The perfect lighthearted summer read for 11 - 14 year olds.

'Geek Girl with a supernatural twist' - The Observer

Meet Mo Merrydrew - independent young woman, Mini Battenberg fan, president of the debating society - and reluctant vampire queen ...

Fifteen-year-old Mo Merrydrew isn't exactly expecting to be asked to be Vampire Queen of Great Britain when she's cycling home from school one wet Tuesday evening. Apparently, she is 'the Chosen One'. Aside from being uncomfortable with the idea of unelected power (not very democratic), there's the blood drinking to consider (Mo is a vegetarian), and frankly it's just not really the sort of role Mo's looking for (she wants to aim for a real job in politics). But - if you're Vampire Queen, you probably don't have to do PE any more, and when the dreamy Luca, a vampire familiar, turns up, it all suddenly starts to look a bit more appealing ...

Geek Girl meets Buffy in a brilliantly funny new teen series from bestselling author Jo Simmons

About the Author
Jo Simmons is an author of funny fiction. I Swapped My Brother on the Internet was shortlisted for the Lollies Book Awards 2020 and was translated into several languages. Jo began her working life as a sub-editor on magazines in London and later became a freelance journalist. She started writing for children when her two boys were young and hungry for daft and silly stories to make bedtime more fun. She lives in Brighton with her family and a small, scruffy dog who leaves hair absolutely everywhere. THE RELUCTANT VAMPIRE QUEEN is her first series for teenagers.

Reviews
The voice is pitch perfect in this hilarious comedy of errors. It's a great twist on the familiar vampire genre for slightly younger teens with a rom-com element thrown in. There is action and suspense aplenty and some suitably blood-thirsty descriptions without there being any dreadful danger or peril, even though there are a few nearly fatal misses ... a brilliant read for young teenagers. -- Jane Churchill * Books for Keeps *
The set up allows for lots of opportunities for comedy, and no shortage of thrills either ... but there's humour too in the relationship between Mo and Lou. Simmons successfully mixes Gothic horror into the familiar, loving knockabout of teenage life and friendships and to great effect. -- Andrea Reece * Love Reading *
The Reluctant Vampire Queen by Jo Simmons sees 15-year-old Mo proclaimed Vampire Queen of Great Britain against her democratic, vegetarian principles. Think Geek Girl with a supernatural twist. -- Fiona Noble * The Observer *

Absolutely Fantastic

This was my first time ordering from SciFier but it definitely won't be my last. When it comes to buying books online the packaging needs to be good, SciFier were great they used bubble wrap to make sure they arrived perfect. Amazing range of books that majority are lower priced than most book retailers. Wonderful service, I'll definitely be recommending to everyone. Thank you.
