Obsessed!
In a controlled future city, Poet Graves enters a brutal academy where survival depends on strength, loyalty, and hiding the truth. When she's drawn to a mysterious outsider, she's forced to question the life that's always been planned for her. I genuinely loved this. The premise is so fascinating, with its idyllic-seeming society that is anything but, and that almost military way of life running through everything. The academy setting was so well done, with ruthless trials, shifting alliances, and constant pressure to prove yourself. I was completely pulled in. The worldbuilding is layered but not overly complicated, which made it so easy to get lost in. Poet was such a compelling main character. She has a good heart but isn't flawless, and I loved that. She's been shaped by everything she's been taught, by her father, the elite, and society as a whole, and watching her slowly question that was one of my favorite parts. She stays true to herself and starts to recognize what's right and what's wrong. Rook is still a bit of an enigma to me, but I fell for him anyway. There's just something about him that works, and I really enjoyed their dynamic. I wouldn't have minded a bit more tension between them, but I was still completely invested. He looks over, and our eyes meet. The moment becomes a spark. The ignition of fire that might burn us to dust. What really made this book for me was the mystery. There are more questions than answers, and I loved that. It made the story feel bigger, and honestly, a little intoxicating. I'm officially obsessed and already desperate for the next book.
