Jade Tiger by Craig Thomas

It is the early 1980s, and Berlin and Germany are on the cusp of reunification. A new treaty is made to pull down the Berlin Wall, and the end of the Cold War is in sight. But when politician Wolfgang Zimmerman, the architect of the treaty, is exposed as a Soviet agent, everything is thrown into chaos.

For espionage veteran Kenneth Aubrey and British agent Patrick Hyde, the world is suddenly full of clues that don't match up. The 'evidence' against Zimmerman seems to have been planted, but by whom?

British Intelligence suspects that China is heavily involved. The Cold War ending in Europe could mean Russian troops redeployed from East Germany to the China-Russian border... So when a Chinese defector is hauled from Hong Kong harbour, trading information for asylum, Aubrey suddenly has a lead.

In six months Aubrey could crack the defector. But he doesn't have months, he has just two weeks. Two weeks to save the reunification, and foil Operation Jade Tiger...

Deception, political intrigue and heart-racing action run throughout this chilling espionage thriller by Craig Thomas, perfect for fans of Tom Clancy and Len Deighton.
