About the Author
ALEXANDER JACOBY is a lecturer in Film Studies at Oxford Brookes University, UK where he teaches contemporary Japanese cinema. He has had a number of articles published on world cinema, with a particular emphasis on Japanese film. His critical essay on Hirokazu Koreeda, 'Why Nobody Knows: Family and Society in Modern Japan' was published in the journal Film Criticism, Winter/Spring 2011.
