Gravity Changes is a collection of fantastical, off-beat stories that view the quotidian world through the lens of the absurd. Set in a surreal, fictional world that is populated by strange, fascinating characters children who defy gravity, a man who marries a light bulb, the Devil and his ex-wife these stories take wide steps outside of reality, finding new ways to illuminate truth.

Zach Powers lives and writes in Savannah, Georgia. The co-founder of the literary arts nonprofit Seersucker Live, his promotional writing for television has won an Emmy Award, and he is currently a columnist for Savannah Morning News.




Galleys available: national mailing to key review/media outlets 4-5 months prior to publication. National advertising: Poets & Writers, American Poets, the Academy of American Poets newsletter, Rain Taxi, and Redactions. National print campaign: 100+ finished books will be mailed to key review outlets, specifically targeting Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, The New York Times Book Review, The New Yorker, The LA Times, Poets & Writers Magazine, Bookforum, LA Review of Books, Tin House, etc. Buy-ins to relevant academic conferences, trade shows, and publications. Spring announcements will be submitted to Publishers Weekly. Online/social media campaign: Extensive promotion through BOA's website and blog; Facebook (6,500+ contacts), Twitter (6,100 followers), Instagram (1,500+ followers), and Pinterest (550+ followers) accounts; print and e-postcards; print and e-materials; and print and e-catalogs. Electronic postcards to announce book publication will be sent to Powers's academic contacts, bookstore contacts, and literary bloggers. Electronic newsletter feature will be emailed to BOA's database of 6,500+ contacts. Ebook will be available at the same time as print publication to maximize sales. Ebook ISBN will be included on all press materials, author and publisher websites, and whenever print ISBN is listed. Publisher and author will be promoting both e and p through social media. Author will attend the AWP Conference 2017 in Washington, DC, where he will have an author signing. Plans for readings and events in places where Powers is connected, such as: Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; Portland, OR; Los Angeles, CA; Austin, TX; Houston, TX; Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; Savannah, GA; Athens, GA; Asheville, NC; and Charleston, SC. Powers is particularly well known at such places as The Book Lady Bookstore (Savannah, GA); E. Shavers Bookstore (Savannah, GA); Live Oak Public Libraries (GA); the Savannah College of Art and Design Library (Savannah, GA); and the University of South Carolina Beaufort Library (Beaufort, SC). Since the book is full of pop cultural influences, Powers is considering ways to present the book at comic cons and similar events. Plans for joint readings with other authors, including Kelly Luce (FSG) and Amelia Gray (FSG), among others. Blurbs and endorsements from Karen Russell, and other prominent authors. About the Author
Zach Powers lives and writes in Savannah, Georgia. Winner of the BOA Short Fiction Prize, his work has appeared in Black Warrior Review, Forklift, Ohio, PANK, Caketrain, and elsewhere. He is the co-founder of the literary arts nonprofit Seersucker Live, and leads the writers' workshop at the Flannery O'Connor Childhood Home, where he also served on the board of directors. His promotional writing for television won an Emmy, and he is a former columnist for Savannah Morning News.
