Description
The second in the fast-and-furious fantasy adventure THE LEGENDS OF THE AELFAR: the worlds of the dark elves and the dwarves collide in what Malazan Empire calls 'Tolkien with a dash of Gemmell and a sprinkling of George R.R. Martin'.
The AElfar, the enemies of the dwarves, control the darkest magics, but even their power has its limits. To save their own people, they must enter into an unwinnable war.
Sinthoras and Caphalor, two very different AElfar, watch as their plans come to fruition: the hidden land - the home of the dwarves - has fallen to their army of trolls, barbarians and AElfar, and now the lands of the hated elves are within their grasp.
But the alliance begins to crumble as greed triumphs over obedience. And Sinthoras and Caphalor face another threat: an enemy from the empire of the AElfar, thought to be defeated, has resurfaced, and while their best warriors fight in the hidden land, the AElfar homeland lies almost defenceless . . .

About the Author
Markus Heitz trained to be a teacher after studying history and German literature, then going on to an MA in History. He spent several years as a journalist, writing in his free time, before the runaway success of The Dwarves allowed him to give up the day job. His debut epic fantasy novel, Schatten uber Ulldart (Shadows over Ulldart) was the first of many of his books to win the Deutscher Phantastik Preis (Germany's premier literary award for fantasy) in 2003. Since then he has frequently topped the bestseller charts, and his Number One bestselling Dwarves and Aelfar series have earned him a place among Germany's most successful fantasy authors. The DOORS series, where each book follows the adventurers as they choose a different door, have earned him a whole new audience as he plays with fantasy, thriller and mystery tropes to keep the reader always interested. He currently lives in Saarland, in Germany.
Reviews
Driven by unrelenting action, [the book] springs to life through the vivid, vigorous writing * Kirkus on the Legends of the Alfar *
Tolkien with a dash of Gemmell and a sprinkling of George R.R. Martin * Malazan Empire on Markus Heitz *
The prose is sharp, the action sequences bloody and all in this has been a real joy to read. Throw into the mix some cracking double-dealing, some political machinations and all in this series has been a pure joy from start to finish and definitely one I'd recommend to other fantasy fans * Falcata Times *
There is adventure, fighting, death, one truly gruesome act and a people going to war. I enjoyed this book and I want more about the AElfar. Because at the end, stuff is going down * Books for Life *
