Both are set to realise their ambitions but things take a change for them both.
The author tells a tale of ambition, scientific discovery, history's impact on the present and how ordinary people can set themselves to extraordinary tasks. A well respected career in related scientific research has led her to this gripping and very believable tale.

Reviews
Two students with competing plans to utilise scientific research to change the world. Louise, driven by an ambition to better herself, has dreams to develop novel approaches to save lives. Finn, instilled with a hatred for the British by the elders of his village, has ambitions of a much more deadly persuasion, and Louise's research may be the key to his success. As the worlds of these two scientists become entwined, questions about their motives and drives for success begin to raise. How much of themselves are they willing to sacrifice to achieve their aims? A story of ambition, desire, revenge, and intrigue in the world of genetic engineering which kept me hooked right to the end.

When Flint is given the opportunity to go to an English University to study the subject of his choice, it is a dream come true. However, there is a price to pay. He must fulfil his country's need for revenge for perceived colonial abuses. His actions will have far reaching consequences that will keep the reader enthralled.
Kay Middlemiss
In her book 'Ambition', Dr Val Owen uses her extensive scientific knowledge - which includes research into bio sensors. She also uses her observation of those who are driven by ambition - who endeavour to clamber up the 'greasy pole' at any cost. The book's protagonist, Flint, influenced by those around him, sees an opportunity which he grasps and which changes his plans and his path. Meanwhile, unexpected events have disastrous consequences.
This book is compelling and difficult to put down!

Ambitions is about the collision of two worlds, that of Flint and that of Louise. Their stories are carefully intertwined as they both seek to fulfil their ambitions and they way they go about it is skilfully written by a clearly knowledgeable author. It makes you realise that combat is not the only threat to world peace and stability. It was a good read and I would give it five stars.
