About the Author
Emily (E.G.) Young holds an MFA in writing for children from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. She lives in Florida, where she writes for the Tampa Bay Times and works as a freelance editor. Her short fiction has won Hunger Mountain Review's Katherine Paterson Prize for Middle Grade Literature. This is her debut novel.

Emotional and imaginative, this book reminded me once again why I love YA so much... The worldbuilding is exquisite, and the little "comfort bottles" that Hot Dog uses to capture moments of joy she's experienced (to be released when she, or someone else, needs them) are a creative - if bittersweet - touch... Bonus points for the writing style, that manages to be lyrical in its simplicity.
