Wallace and Gromit started off life as characters in the BAFTA-winning animated short, A Grand Day Out, written and directed by Nick Park, who subsequently went on win a further two Oscars and five Baftas. The feature length Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2005.
