Description

"You don't belong here. None of you do. None but us...."

1940. Pamela Courtney is evacuated to Chanterlands - the home of her aunts: Jilly, the eccentric one, who dreams of her days as a star of the silver screen, and Bunny, the pragmatic one.

But Chanterlands is home to more than just the living. There's the spectral lonely boy whose room Pamela sleeps in and, in the long-neglected attic, she discovers a sinister secret of this once-great house. But greater danger awaits Pamela during that summer long ago when war raged all over Europe and the safety her mother had wished for her took a dark and fatal turn.

Hardcover with sprayed edges. A fantastic, edge-of-your-seat ghost story from the ever-enthralling Catherine Cavendish.

About the Author

Cat first started writing when someone thrust a pencil into her hand. Unfortunately, as she could neither read nor write properly at the time, none of her stories actually made much sense. However as she grew up, they gradually began to take form and, at the tender age of nine or ten, she sold her dolls' house, and various other toys to buy her first typewriter - an Empire Smith Corona. She hasn't stopped bashing away at the keys ever since, although her keyboard of choice now belongs to her laptop.

The need to earn a living led to a varied career in sales, advertising and career guidance but Cat is now the full-time author of a number of supernatural, ghostly, haunted house and Gothic horror novels, novellas and short story collections, including: Those Who Dwell in Mordenhyrst Hall; The After-Death of Caroline Rand; Dark Observation; In Darkness, Shadows Breathe; The Garden of Bewitchment; The Haunting of Henderson Close; The Darkest Veil; and The Crow Witch and Other Conjurings.

Reviews

"A beguiling and haunting work of dark fantasy stretching from Victorian times through the psychedelic '60s and on into the present day. So sit back, put some Petra's Magic Garden on the turntable, and prepare to gaze upon The Stones of Landane."

-- Daniel Church, author of The Hollows and The Ravening

"With The Stones of Landane, the author delivers a gift of a novel, [...] rife with big ideas and cinematic plotting, and well-drawn characters. Mixing the cosmic and folk horror elements along with the stuff of classic gothic horror, Cavendish offers a rich stew of fright fiction elements that is satisfying but will also leave readers ready for the next helping."

-- Daniel Robichaud, Considering Stories

"[A] tale of romance and destiny, steeped in tension and uncertainty. [...] The slow build of dread was perfectly paced and incredibly impactful."

-- Erica Robyn Reads
