Description

Profiling the canonized figures alongside recently-established filmmakers, this collection features interviews with Lars von Trier, Soren Kragh-Jacobsen, Thomas Vinterberg and Henning Carlsen among many others. It poses questions that engage with ongoing and controversial issues within film studies, which will stimulate debate in academic and filmgoing circles alike.

Each interview is preceded by a photograph of the director, biographical information, and a filmography. Frame enlargements are used throughout to help clarify particular points of discussion and the book as a whole is contextualised by an informative general introduction. A valuable addition to the growing library of books on Scandinavian film, national cinema and minority cinema.

Reviews
"Anyone interested in contemporary Danish cinema will need to own a copy of this book, which is the single most important source of up-to-date information on the subject, in any language. These dialogues make lively reading, deal with the most pertinent issues, and are immensely informative. (Professor Richard Raskin, University of Arhus) Instruktoorens blik is a veritable goldmine for international readers who are interested in understanding why Danish film once again has achieved international recognition. (Fyens Stiftstidende, Mogens Damgaard) An outstanding, thorough, and carefully researched book that ought to fuel discussions in and about the Danish film milieu. (Palle Schantz Lauridsen, Kristeligt Dagblad)

This was my first time ordering from SciFier but it definitely won't be my last. When it comes to buying books online the packaging needs to be good, SciFier were great they used bubble wrap to make sure they arrived perfect. Amazing range of books that majority are lower priced than most book retailers. Wonderful service, I'll definitely be recommending to everyone. Thank you.
