Description

THE SUN: "A weird, vivid and creepy book, not for the faint hearted. But it's originality and top writing make for a great read ****." The second volume in the series, Soul's Asylum - Star Weaver, is a 2016 Indies BOOK AWARD FINALIST, SCIENCE FICTION. TV Presenter, JULIETTE FOSTER "...Pearson is the possessor of an extraordinary imagination that brilliantly assaults every variant of the sci-fi genre. His writing is vivid, urban and unflinching in its descriptions, taking the reader on a breathtaking journey through Saturn's rings, outer world 'constructs', altered perceptions and a glorious African landscape smouldering with sexual heat and the odour of violence. This is hard-hitting story telling with full-on language and a brutally splendid plot twist, which, if you make it to the end, will leave you crossing your legs!" 'The dry thing behind her eyes made her stand up; it stooped, collected the child into its mother's arms and stepped out into space.' We pick up the story of Milla Carter after the destruction of the Body Holiday Foundation. She has ripped down the poisoned tree but the parasite still lives, and the infection is worse than anyone could possibly imagine. It is no longer just Carter fighting for survival and the forces arrayed against her are more powerful than ever before. From a ledge 173 floors above the Moscow streets to New York, the asteroid belt and beyond, Soul's Asylum establishes Derek E Pearson as one of the most prolific imaginations in the science fiction arena. 'Look at it, my first sight of alien life and it's infesting a chunk of murdered human meat.' 'Where Pearson will take you is impossible to predict, strap in and enjoy the ride. The Body Holiday trilogy has concluded, Soul's Asylum begins a new epic tale in the same universe. We are no longer asking who dunnit but what - and why?'

About the Author
Foreword Indies BOOK AWARD Finalist: 2018 GODS' Warrior (Fantasy) 2017 GODS' Fool (Fantasy) 2016 GODS' Enemy (Fantasy) 2016 Star Weaver (Science Fiction) Derek E Pearson is a UK-based author and illustrator with more than a dozen published novels in the sci-fi and fantasy genres. Since gaining his bachelor's degree from Norwich School of Art in the late 1970s, Pearson has mainly worked as a children's book illustrator, including titles such as Tulsi the Tiger. Since the late 1980s, Pearson has also worked in publishing and journalism, specialising in the dental industry with his online magazine Dental Review. Celluloid Peach, Pearson's latest novel, is a grand, romantic and adventuresome departure from his usual writings, but brings with it the dark twist familiar to fans of fantasy and sci-fi. Pearson says, "When someone dies it has to matter. You have to believe a life has been lost. An author learns to love the people he lives with in his mind. They become real."

Reviews
THE SUN a weird, vivid and creepy book, not for the faint hearted. But it's originality and top writing make for a great read **** LUCY SKOULDING, reporter: Creepy, chaotic and carnal... a roller coaster of a story... igniting the imagination TV Presenter JULIETTE FOSTER BODY HOLIDAY trilogy (SOUL'S ASYLUM prequel): Pearson's galactic-sized imagination delivers, with veiled gallows humour, a compelling image of a chic, high-tech society infused with a toxic strain that feeds on extreme violence. A gripping read that boldly and intelligently explores the vision of an ugly, amoral future. In this dystopian nightmare, privacy is non-existent, life is cheap, killers have fan clubs, while the only individuals who count for something are those with money. Milla's crusade has a biblical quality in which she is elevated as a force of hope against the corporate anti-Christ of the Body Holiday Foundation.
