Description

The famous Whitby Goth Weekend is in full swing. But while a mysterious guest star's music rocks the Pavilion, emaciated corpses are appearing in the streets. Outsider Daniel Murray has never believed in the supernatural. Local girl Tiffany Harrek is not so sure. If they are to survive the next 48 hours they must wise up. Fast.

19th century Whitby brought the world Dracula. 21st century Whitby brings us SCRAVIR.

When Part 1 of the trilogy, SCRAVIR - While Whitby Sleeps was first printed in 2021 it became an instant success. It presents a genuinely original horror genre and an intelligent and complex nemesis who makes Dracula seem little more than a man who gets up late and likes necks.

Many printings later it is time for a new edition with an introduction that sheds some little light on the author - CM Vassie - and on the dark northern setting of this amazing tale that has inspired the imaginations of so many.

With the follow up SCRAVIR II - Lacklight printed in late 2023 and the third instalment of SCRAVIR printed later in 2025, there is no better time to immerse yourself in dark lacklit world of the scravir.

About the Author
CM Vassie, author of the SCRAVIR tales, has also written the popular time travelling adventure - The Whitby TRAP - also set in the same North Yorkshire coastal town. There is also a collection of short stories titled The Whalebone Archers and last year Injini Press published a collection of their creepy and scary short stories for children under the name Halogen Jones.

Of the author little is known. Are the works really fiction or merely courageous if doomed attempts to document troubling moments in the history of Whitby?

Rumour has it that the author has previously worked as a film & television composer, producing the music for dozens of productions including, fittingly The Great Plague (winner of the RTS Best History Award in 2001) and Invitation to a Hanging (winner of the RTS Best History Award in 2003).

We do know that during the writing of the SCRAVIR books the author "ran and reran the cobbled streets of old Whitby, soaking and skulking the lacklit corners, dodging and diving the loudly Goths, and breathing deep the salt smoke whispering by Fortunes Kippers on Henrietta Street."
