Description

Many of us first learned the naked truth about vanity from the classic story of "The Emperor's New Clothes", and now comes a new look for the next generation to serve as a cautionary tale for fashionistas. Crafted from the heart of this time - honored fairytale comes an empowering new memoir celebrating the life of fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, a one-time Warhol muse, Studio 54 pin up, and real-life princess, who challenged the centuries - old traditions of beauty, style, and protocol to create a wardrobe for women by a working woman. Her revolutionary wrap dress liberated women to be their most active and natural selves, setting entirely new, realistic, and exciting fashion standards for women everywhere. Fairy tale and haute couture mix magically in this re-imagined fairytale created by fashion writer and internationally bestselling author Camilla Morton and art directed exclusively by Diane von Furstenberg herself. As the adventures of this iconic designer and the story's young empress unfold, discover all the colors, shapes, and sizes of inspiration to empower your own happily ever after. About the "Fashion Fairytale Memoir Series". Each book in this inspired series from fashion writer Camilla Morton inventively re-imagines one of our favorite once upon a time stories, blending with it the real-life story of a famed fashion designer. Featuring lush illustrations drawn and collaged by the designers themselves, these tales illuminate each iconic individual's creative magic while celebrating their unique lives and extraordinary careers. The result is an intriguing combination of whimsy and memoir.

About the Author
Camilla Morton is a London-based fashion writer and the author of the international bestseller How to Walk in High Heels, which has been translated into twenty languages worldwide. She was the runway reporter for U.K. Vogue.com, covering all international and couture collections. Morton has collaborated with several designers and written for magazines, newspapers and blogs, including Time magazine's "Style and Design," SHOWStudio, the Wall Street Journal's "Off Duty" section, and Harper's Bazaar in both the U.S. and the U.K. This is her fifth book. Diane von FUrstenberg arrived in New York in 1970 with a suitcase full of her iconic wrap dresses and changed the way women dressed. DVF has pioneered fashion and business, built and sold a cosmetics company and founded a publishing house, and she supports many philanthropic causes-especially for women and the environment. DVF returned from a hiatus to fashion in 1997, relaunching the signature wrap to international acclaim. In 2005 the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awarded her a Lifetime Achievement Award, and the following year named her as the Council President.
