Description

From beloved Japanese author-illustrator Kaya Doi, this ninth volume in the Chirri & Chirra series is set amidst the cherry blossoms of Japan, giving readers a gorgeous explosion of petaled pinkness!

Chirri & Chirra, Among the Cherry Blossoms, the ninth book in our beloved Chirri & Chirra series, takes readers on yet another charming adventure filled with delicious food, animal friends, and the beauty of nature. Here, Chirri and Chirra ride their trusty bicycles to a giant cherry tree. After tasting delicious cherry-blossom sweets, they go inside the tree, where they find a sakura-themed beauty parlor! Decked out in chiffon scarves and spritzed with sweet perfume, their next stop is the viewing deck, where they sip cherry-blossom tea and enjoy the most amazing experience of all: the moment when the petals, shaken loose by a gust of wind, float down to the ground in a gorgeous shower.

A translator's note about sakura trees is included.

About the Author
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Kaya Doi graduated with a degree in design from Tokyo Zokei University. She got her start in picture books by attending the Atosaki Juku workshop, held at a Tokyo bookshop specializing in children's books. Since then, she has created many picture books featuring her delicate color-pencil drawings. She lives in Chiba Prefecture and maintains a strong interest in environmental and animal welfare issues. David Boyd is assistant professor of Japanese at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His translations have appeared in Monkey Business International, Granta, and Words Without Borders, among other publications.

Reviews

"Can we just stop and take a moment to appreciate just how popular this little Japanese import series has become around America today? That's the kind of thing that I think is actually worth celebrating... One of the books in this series was even chosen as a best book of the 21st century by Kirkus."

Absolutely Fantastic

This was my first time ordering from SciFier but it definitely won't be my last. When it comes to buying books online the packaging needs to be good, SciFier were great they used bubble wrap to make sure they arrived perfect. Amazing range of books that majority are lower priced than most book retailers. Wonderful service, I'll definitely be recommending to everyone. Thank you.
